GI Plastek is growing, and in anticipation for this growth we need to plan now to position ourselves with the resources we need to be successful. We have a growing customer base and a very supportive new ownership, which is a great combination.
I am pleased to be able to share with you some key additions to our team and to some important changes we have planned.
To support the new program activity I am pleased to welcome Heidi Cogean as our new Program Launch Manager. Heidi joins us with a wealth of program management experience and will be an important addition to the team. Heidi will start April 6th 2016, and will report to Tad Vaughn.
As we continue to grow we need to add resources to the manufacturing management team. With the addition of new presses and a new paint line we need to separate molding from the downstream processes of sanding, paint and mask / pack. To that end we asked Jim Bolton to take on the new role of Finishing Manager, providing the focus we need in this very critical and growing manufacturing department. Jim will continue to report to Tad.
We have therefore established the new role of Molding Manager to focus purely on the molding department, and I am pleased to announce that Wendy Poole has accepted the role and will start April 11th 2016. Wendy brings years of manufacturing experience in a molding environment. Wendy will report to Tad.
Our continued growth highlights the need to support our new product process development and current process improvement with more focus. To provide a concentrated effort we are going to establish a standalone Processing Engineering Department. I have asked Brian Porter to take on the role as Process Engineering Manager. We need to fully utilize Brian’s scientific molding skill sets and experience, allowing us to take our molding process capability to world class levels. To demonstrate how important I feel this role is, Brian will report directly to Tad Vaughn, but will also have an indirect reporting relationship to me. To fill the void in our Quality department I am pleased to announce the promotion of Todd Karry to Quality Manager. Todd will report to me. Both these changes will take effect on Monday April 4th 2016.
We round the new team out with the previously announced addition of Kevin Kezar as an Industrial Engineer. Kevin will report directly to Jim Bolton.
These are very exciting times, please join me in welcoming both our new and existing team members to their new roles.

New Equipment Purchased
Wolfeboro, NH, February 5, 2016 - GI Plastek Corp has purchased two large tonnage injection molding machines and is installing a new paint line. "In support of our continued growth we have recently purchased new 1100 ton and 500 ton injection molding machines and are starting construction of a new multi-booth mechanized paint line" said Daniel Mills, president and CEO of the NH based injection molder. "In 2014 we completed a $3+ million plant expansion that added over 30,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space and positioned us to grow our business. We are now investing over $2 million to add molding capacity and to replace our current paint line with a larger capacity, enhanced capability system. Many of our customers utilize our inhouse paint and decorating capability to provide the large, high aesthetic parts that are a key part of their product. This investment allows us to better support both their current and future needs and positions GI Plastek well to grow with our existing customer base and new customers."
